Marble is a metamorphic rock, the stone has been reworked as it were by nature in the earth's crust. Marble is one of the best-known types of natural stone. It is formed from limestone and because of this, limestone is often called marble. However, this is incorrect because limestone is a sedimentary rock.

In terms of structure and color, marble and limestone are similar. Marble and limestone both have beautiful hues and veins. Over the centuries, people have made many beautiful buildings with limestone and/or marble.

Limestone and marble are sensitive to acid. The processing of the natural stone is adapted to the use. Limestone can be polished, sanded, blasted, finned and bush hammered as well as roughly chopped. Marble is a light natural stone and is therefore usually only polished or honed or brushed.
